The Village Painters remain committed to painting together and continuing their art friendship and dedication to learning, mentoring and encouragement of one another. They meet collectively each week on Tuesdays in their current studio to paint. Individual members utilize the VP studios and home studios during the remaining week.
Professor Alvin Sella, University of Alabama, http://www.acsella.com, has a long-standing relationship with The Village Painters and mentors member artists and visitors in bi-monthly critique sessions in studio.
During the month of February 2010, the Village Painters were privileged to host visiting art professor, Sergio Montero Van Rysselberghe of Santiago, Chile, http://www.sergiomontero.cl, for several teaching and mentoring sessions.
On July 1, 2010, The Village Painters moved studio from Lorna Square to Cahaba Heights- a more convenient location for its members. We are excite to be BACK IN A VILLAGE!
Members exhibit works as a group at least twice per year and frequently as individual artists in galleries and community art groups.
Local artists are encouraged to visit the group for "show and tell", lunch discussions, (and participation in mentoring/painting sessions when visiting professors are scheduled). Call or E-mail ahead to inquire about membership or to make an appointment for a studio visit with one of our active members or through this website.
